How FLEXCO® Rivet Hinged Fasteners Work
Designed for newer synthetic carcass belting as well as older styles, FLEXCO® SR® (Self-Setting Rivet) Fastener utilizes a multiple rivet attachment. This provides maximum resistance to pull-out and allows the patented rivets to work between the carcass fibres without severing them. leaving the entire belt carcass intact. It does not rely solely upon the carcass material to resist pull-out. Because the rivets are self-setting, fasteners are installed quickly from the top side of the belt. Rivets are driven through the fastener plates and through the belt. passing between the carcass fibres. The specially shaped head of each pilot nail works in conjunction with the applicator tools' anvil plate to set the rivets. The same hammer blows that set the rivets, also compress the fastener plates into the belt cover. This simultaneous compressing and peening maintains each increase in compression. distributing the splice tension evenly across the full belt width. |
Applications
For underground mining and smaller pulleys on construction equipment, asphalt plants, aggregate and ready-mix plants, log belts and similar applications.
Installation Method
Fastener installed with portable fixture and hammer Fasteners are installed in one simple procedure with selfsetting rivets.
Fastener Profile
Fastener profile is smooth. Plates are specially bevelled to avoid hang-up.
P1W (pounds per inch width)
Use with belts that are mechanically rated up to 450 PIW for R5, 650 PIW for R5A/12 and 800 P1W for R6.
Pulley Diameter
SR® fasteners operate smoothly over pulleys as small as 9" in diameter (for R5).
Splicing Method
FLEXCO® Rivet Hinged Fasteners are secured to the belt by patented self-setting rivets in a staggered. five-point pattern. This offers maximum resistance to pull-out and evenly distributes tension throughout the fastener.
Metals Available
Steel. Plated Steel is the standard fastener material available. RustAlloy® is a lower chrome, stainless steel alloy. Stainless Steel. Type 316 stainless steel (R5 only).
Range
Operates on belts 7/32" or 6mm to 11/16" or 17mm thick and over a minimum pulley diameter of 9" or 230mm.
